Ways of Doing is the public face of the ongoing collaborations and methodological practices developed by videographic scholar-makers Lucy Fife Donaldson, Colleen Laird, Alison Peirse, and myself. In this project, we are fostering an ethical praxis of audiovisual research, including the modeling of feminist citational practices, collective care, and the creation of an inclusive, videographic community of practitioners. On this site, we encourage engagement with resources we have developed and offer, and provide suggestions on citational practices for the classroom and your own creative work. This includes five exercises that I developed for Embodying the Video Essay, a workshop funded by a 2023 Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Connection (SSHRC) Grant that I co-organized and led in July 2023.
